On May 14, 2026, a two-day Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) training was conducted in Naya Ghusra, Ward No. 10 of Birendranagar under the “Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal (EWPN)” initiative, a joint effort of the Government of Nepal, the European Union, and UN agencies.
The training was organized for 20 women involved in commercial turmeric farming. The program focused on material management, safe storage practices, workplace cleanliness, and the use of work checklists. Participants were also oriented on measures to reduce risks and hazards that may occur during agricultural work.
During the practical sessions, participants received field-based training on the operation and risk management of tractors, turmeric grinding machines, storage systems, and electrical equipment. They also visited agricultural farms where they practiced filling out work WIND checklists and discussed necessary preparedness measures to prevent workplace problems, accidents, and health-related risks.
The training sessions were facilitated by Krishna Bahadur Rokaya (DIPC) and Shruti Tiwari (GIZ), while the program was organized by SAEWCC-Nepal.
