04 Aug, 2026. Dailekh of Two farmer groups from Mahabu Rural Municipality have signed annual buyer-seller agreements with a wholesale trader from Surkhet to strengthen agricultural market linkages and ensure a reliable market for their produce.
The agreements were signed between the New Panchakoshi Fresh Vegetable and Potato Producers Group, the Janasakiya Vegetable and Fruit Producers Group, and Jwala Vegetable and Fruit Shop of Birendranagar, Surkhet. The initiative aims to provide farmers with assured market access, fair pricing, and sustainable business relationships.
Under the agreements, the farmer groups will supply seasonal vegetables and fruits, while the buyer will purchase the produce based on agreed quality standards and prevailing wholesale market prices. The agreements also define responsibilities for product collection, transportation, payment, quality assurance, and risk management. They will remain valid for one year, with the option of renewal through mutual agreement.
In the said municipality, a program is being implemented under the “Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal (EWPN)” initiative-a joint effort by the Government of Nepal, the European Union, and United Nations agencies. Specifically, this program falls under the economic empowerment component (Output 2) and is being executed through a partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Saewcc-Nepal.
This agreement is expected to improve farmers’ access to sustainable markets, increase household incomes, and promote the development of inclusive agricultural value chains.
